I have been involved in the breed all my life. My parents Peter and Shirley Johnson founded the Downstream kennel 40 years ago. I have a separate interest. I consider myself very fortunate to have been born into the breed and to have had my parents for guidance - there is NO substitute for grass roots experience in my opinion.

I enjoy showing the dogs - also show dogs for other people and run them for the less mobile, I also get involved in the Field Trial side as Pa is Field Trial Secretary of the Flatcoated Retriever Society. I judge at Open Show level.I am also show secretary of the United Retriever Club.

The boys - Laser and Macro - are my Children. I could not be without them - where I go they come with me as much as possible. During the day whilst I am at work they get taken to my parents. Macro has training lessons with my father. Laser does not have lessons - my father has completely given up with him - he said that he was educationally disinclined. He therefore lounges around watching TV (yes really) and watching the world go by from his seat in the kitchen.

Very extrovert dog with excellent temperament. Specialises in acting the fool and climbing on furniture. My best friend. Shown regularly. Has 1 Reserve CC, consistently placed. Loves being in the ring.

Very loving dog. Thinks before he does anything but doesn't necessarily get it right!! His main concern is when is his next meal going to arrive.

Awards. Junior Warrant - new system at just over 12 months, Best Puppy in Show at the Flatcoated Retriever Society Open Show - Oct 1999. Best Puppy in Breed at Richmond Ch Show.
